Rosario Raro holds a PhD in Hispanic Philology, specializing in Literature.
She has published six historical novels with the renowned Spanish publishing house Planeta: Volver a Canfranc (2015), La huella de una carta (2017), Desaparecida en Siboney (2019), El cielo sobre Canfranc (2022), Prohibida en Normandía (2024), and La novia de la paz (2025), which was awarded the prestigious Azorín Prize for Best Novel.

For twenty years, she directed the Creative Writing Workshop at Universitat Jaume I in Castellón, where she also taught Spanish Language across several degree programs including Translation, Journalism, Humanities, History, and Heritage.

Her doctoral thesis, Los textos expandidos, explores digital writing on the internet and earned her the highest distinction: “cum laude.” She also completed postgraduate studies in Business Communication and Pedagogy.

She now dedicates herself exclusively to writing and travelling with her books.

Rosario lived in Peru for nearly a decade, where she specialized in Creative Writing. In 2008, she was one of only two Spanish writers selected by UNAM (Universidad Autónoma de México) for the virtual program Caza de letras.

Her work has been translated into Arabic, Catalan, French, Japanese, and Portuguese. In addition to her novels, she has written short stories, poetry, essays, and academic articles on narratology, literature, and linguistics. She has contributed to several publications, including El País, Harper’s Bazaar España, Qué Leer, and El Dominical de El Periódico.
She has edited fifteen anthologies of poetry and short stories, including titles such as Los excelentes, Los relatores, Los intachables, Incorregibles, Imprescindibles, Irreductibles, and Incombustibles, published by editorial houses in Seville, Castellón, and Madrid.

Her novel Volver a Canfranc inspired a literary route and a theatrical travel experience, awarded as Best Tourism Experience in Aragón (2021). She has also led literary journeys based on other novels such as Desaparecida en Siboney and organizes an annual creative writing workshop held on a cruise visiting La Goulette (Tunisia), Palermo, Civitavecchia, Savona (Italy), and Marseille (France). A passionate traveler, Rosario has visited more than thirty countries across three continents — including South Korea, Cuba, Finland, Greece, India, Iceland, Japan, Jordan, Norway, Panama, Peru, Turkey, and Tunisia — sometimes scouting real-life settings for her fiction.

She has received numerous international literary awards, including the Ciudad de Huelva Short Story Prize, the Max Aub Prize, and the Magda Portal Award from Peru’s Ministry for Women. She has also been honored with the Onda Cero and Cadena SER Radio Castellón Literature Awards, the “Cruzando Culturas” Prize (Mérida City Council), the Igualdad de Aranda Award, the Kimetz Elkartea of Ordizia, the “Palabras de Mujer” Award in Toledo, and in 2022, the “Aragonese of the Year” Award from booksellers in Huesca for her novel El cielo sobre Canfranc.
Several of her novels have been adapted as audiobooks, narrated by voice actress Neus Sendra. Her works are available in hardcover, paperback, and e-book formats.

Two wines have been inspired by her books: Care, a red wine aged on lees by Bodegas Care, commemorating the Aragón tourism prize for Volver a Canfranc, and Caro, a signature wine from Casa Sicilia 1707 (Novelda).

She has played an active role in literary education and dissemination through conferences and symposia over the past three decades. She directs the Creative Writing Days in Canfranc, held annually in this Pyrenean town on the last weekend of October.

For six years, she coordinated the book clubs of Ámbito Cultural – El Corte Inglés in Valencia and Castellón.

She participates in cultural programs such as Leer te da vidas extra, ¿Por qué leer a los clásicos? and Afinidades electivas (Spanish Ministry of Culture), and was part of the reading promotion program Llegim als pobles, from the Generalitat Valenciana.

She hosts a literary segment on Cadena SER called La Raroteca, travels with her books under the banner Raro Tour, and delivers literary creativity talks known as the Método Raro (Raro Method) for writing novels.
